Roots for Refugees

Mission: To bring stability to Syrian refugee families in Jordan through advocacy, resources and companionship.

What Makes Us Different:

1) We are an individualized service that works with families to meet a range of needs through partnerships with aid organizations and direct service.

2) We stay with families until they feel ready to self-advocate. We are there as a support system for as long as they need us.

3) Our clients become our advocates. The families we serve can (and do) elect to serve other Syrian families by leading needs assessments, offering ongoing support and guiding referrals to our partner organizations.

Why Jordan:

The UN estimates that there are 630,000 Syrian refugees in Jordan, but local aid organizations place that number at closer to 1 million. While the world is focused on the refugees migrating to Europe, many Syrian families are suffering in Jordan. Recently, the World Food Program’s aid cuts left 229,000 refugees with no means to buy food. Many of those in Jordan, say that the inability to survive in Jordan motivates them to consider the dangerous boat trip to Europe, leaving behind friends, family and culture for basic food and housing.
